Gates Callanan

is inspired by a combination of different memories, materials, images, songs, and textures. Movement is an obsession, and in an effort merge sculpture and motion, they discovered the medium of stop motion. Gates was born and educated in Rhode Island, graduating in 2016 from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Film, Animation, and Video. Since then they have lived in Portland, Oregon, New York, and Providence, Rhode Island.
