Workshot: Bonds – Children's Stop Motion Animation Workshop with Asja Trost

19. - 21. 9. 2024, 16.00 - 19.00 or 11.00 - 16.00 / Maribor Puppet Theatre

The workshop will begin by introducing the basic concept of transhumanism and gathering ideas about what technology means to us today. At the same time, we will look for answers to questions such as: how will we connect, communicate, feel and make friends in the future? We will focus on critical issues, which we will try to represent in a practical way using stop motion animation. We will use electronic waste, spare parts, cut-outs and our own bodies to create. The aim of the workshop is to create a short animated film. Throughout the process, we will analyse the use of the equipment that was needed, while also reflecting on our dependence on technology. We will also explore our own views on so-called technological advances, highlighting the origins, extraction and waste of the current system.

The workshop will be led by Asja Trost, assisted by Brina Fekonja.

After completing her studies, Asja Trost, has focused on experimental animation and interventions in public space. In her work, she adapts techniques to content, collaborates with international creators across various fields. She lives and works in Ljubljana.
