14th StopTrik in Łódź
Forthcoming four December days (5.-8.12. 2024) in Łódź will be filled with best stop motion animations from all around the world, you’ll find them when you’ll visit KINO NCKF (National Center for Film Culture) and Mediatheque MeMo.
The StopTrik Festival in Łódź will open with long-awaited, Acadmy Award-winning Adam Elliot’s must-see Memoir of a Snail, and this will be a screening before the Polish official premiere. Admission to all events is free.
StopTrik Official Selection 2024 includes Stop Motion Competition, Borderlands Competition, Stop Motion for Children Competition, Panorama: Wide View, and Panorama: New Weird. All those programmes will be presented to the audiences. StopTrik in Łódź also offers numerous accompanying events. Education takes center stage this year, with stop motion animation workshops for children and masterclasses featuring exceptional international guests, among them Geza M. Toth and Vassilis Kroustallis. Additionally, we’ll meet once again for the popular TrikShow and Animation in Academy short seminar hosted by the University of Lodz. Both events unveil the secrets of animation: one from a practical perspective, the other from a theoretical one.
Non-competition screenings will prominently feature Polish contributions. A special presentation titled “Polyphony” will feature creative talents from the University of the Arts Poznań, showcases the most intriguing and recent animated films from the university. The special retrospective screening “Effects of Otherness” was curated by the Polish Animation Research Group and it offers new interpretations of historical Polish animations through the lens of transhumanism. In the spirits of ecopoetics we also welcome the screening of Gints Zilbalodis’s Flow.
StopTrik in Łódź invites panels and discussions about the current state of Polish animated film. We will explore animation funding strategies, innovative solutions for sustainable film production, and the potential pitfalls posed by AI.
