With its 12th edition, StopTrik celebrates stop-motion animation, strengthens the critical reception of animation and encourages audiences to follow the programme with a humanistic curiosity.

This year, the festival offers a wide range of events. The International Competition Programme showcases the latest achievements of animation filmmakers, in total, we will see 34 animations in competition. The theme of the programme focuses on DOPPELGÄNGER, with three retrospectives focusing on animated manifestations of the double figure - the duplicate, the shadow. The figure of the sinister twin, or mental alter ego, understood as a mirror image (identical but reversed), represents the inner duality of the self and allows for the representation of the tension between opposing sides. The festival is preceded by a stop-motion animation workshop for children, and the professional workshop "Workshot" is expanded into a workshop on concept development, scriptwriting and stop-motion animation. This year, the participants are creating animations with Hugo Covarrubias, the Chilean Oscar-nominated director of stop animation Bestia (Chile). We are also expanding the festival this year with a rich film education programme for children and young people, and we are introducing a stop-motion animation competition for children. We are preparing two exhibitions, one on Doppelgänger and the other on the intersection of Croatian animation and comics, and the festival evenings will be enriched by a varied music programme accompanied by visual artists.
