Theatre performans: Calais, Calais
This is about activism at the borders.
On the one hand about experience, images
On the other about inquiring, searching.
And about questions, open ones
Then a consequence, again.
In the end it’s about resistance against the unbearable situation.
Today, there are 45 million refugees in the world. In Europe, 300,000 people have applied for asylum. 300,000 people out of 45 million, that’s 0.6 percent. On the way from Syria to Serbia, they cover (by foot) 2,300 kilometers in 50 days, that is, an average of 40 kilometers a day, 8 of walking a day, for 50 consecutive days.
The theatre performance Calais, Calais reveals different views on the lives of refugees and activists. It is based on diary entries of the anonymous activist Amy Non, who spent several months in one of Europe’s major camps in Calais, France. From the city of Calais, on clear days, the White Cliffs of England can be seen, which many try to reach every night. The story is imbued with hope and resignation, anger against the authorities and rebellion. What can we do in this situation? Calais, Calais is the feeling that each solution creates ten new problems, each answer a hundred new questions. But people live in an intermediate space, in no man's land, in the waiting room of life.
You go England?
Yes.
Good luck!

See you tomorrow…
