The film excerpts (chosen and sampled by Michał Bobrowski, StopTrik Programme Director) will provoke the musicians to search for the new feelings and emotions within the petrified codes of propagandistic representation, exaggerate meanings of the simplified communication present in Western ‘cartoons’ or Soviet ‘multiks’, and play a game of frivolous improvisation with the images originally made to strictly comply with the dogma.
Reka Kovács (clarinet, alto sax), Bali Németh (drums), and Botond Őri-Kiss (piano-keys)
Reka and Bali are a duo of frequently collaborating Hungarian musicians who share passion for art-house cinema. They both play regularly in their own bands and develop various projects, among them AZNAP Projekt and Sick Picnic. They are also the organizers of the Art Camp at the Szőnyi Tábor in Zebegény. Their approach is hybrid, eclectic, and improvised, enjoying various jazz traditions. While they are also keen on folk music from the specific geographical region of the Danube Bend, Reka and Bali do not even restrain from hip hop.
Botond Őri-Kiss is a composer and pianist graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. He has performed in several formations, played with the French electronic duo Chapelier Fou, was a member of the world music group Aznap project and has given memorable concerts with violin virtuoso Dániel Horváth 'Dudu' from Szombathely, Hungary.
