Michelle & Uri Kranot
Michelle and Uri Kranot’s work has expanded beyond traditional animation, fusing painting, drawing, and new technologies into contemporary experiences. Their work is frequently characterized by a poetic sensibility and fragmented narratives exploring past and present, fact and fiction. They enjoy collaborative projects and experimentation. The Kranots are the founders of TinDrum, a research and development studio. They are the producers and creative directors of ANIDOX, a program of The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark, that focuses on developing and producing animated documentaries. The Kranots first gained recognition with films such as Black Tape, Hollow Land, How Long, Not Long and the VR installations Nothing Happens and Songbird. They have been honoured with top industry awards for their work, including the FIPRESCI Prize at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, a place on the Academy Awards® Shortlist, and the Danish Arts Foundation award for the performing arts. In addition to screenings at many prominent film festivals, their works have been exhibited at prestigious venues around the world, including the Venice Biennale, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Today Art Museum in Beijing and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Denmark. Both Michelle and Uri graduated with honours from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. Uri received his MFA from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Hungary. Both are members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Originally from Israel, Michelle and Uri live in Denmark with their family and work in various countries around the world.
